The Pro Poor Policy Formulation and MDGs –project’s development objectives are to increase the capacity of the Ministry of Finance and National Planning, develop the capability of academic institutions, such as the Institute of Economic and Social Research (INESOR) and the University of Zambia and promote Millennium Development Goals in previously sidelined provinces. By focusing on strengthening Ministry staff pro-poor policy formulation, implementation, monitoring and evaluation, and supporting the introduction of Human Development course at the University of Zambia and encouraging other institutions to follow, will enable Zambia to formulate home-grown pro-poor policies to better the lives of Zambians. | Duration | January 2007-December 2010 | Expected results
| - Capacity developed for pro-poor policy analysis and research that is able to inform the design of sector specific strategies, economic policies and implementation strategies.
- Capacity to implement, monitor and evaluate MDGs based plans developed in Strategic Sector Ministries, districts and provinces.
- Advocacy and dialogue on Human Development and the MDGs enhanced.
