Working together, inside and outside the UN system, is critical to the stretch to reach the Millennium Development Goals. Therefore, we are continuing to expand our efforts to build strategic partnerships. Our challenge is to be seen as a trusted partner to all our partners through offering unbiased, well-researched advice on strategic development challenges facing the country.
Our partners include: Partnership with the Government UNDP Zambia Country Office is proud to be a trusted partner for the Government of the Republic of Zambia. The Government usually seeks views from UNDP for a second opinion on issues it is not very comfortable with.
Our partnerships with the Government institutions include: Partnerships with civil society organizations UNDP works closely with civil society organizations (CSOs) to promote the Millennium Development Goals and to help people to build a better life.
We encourage policy dialogue between government, CSOs and donors and advocate for legal and regulatory environments that enable CSOs to contribute to the development process. UNDP also helps CSOs to develop their own capacity by connecting them to knowledge, experience and resources.
Our partnerships with the civil society organizations include:
Partnerships with bilateral donors UNDP Zambia country office has a very good partnership with bilateral donors. We are an active member of several donor groupings that try to harness the competencies of the donors on various issues such as Governance Working Group and the HIV/AIDS Theme Group. Bilateral donors have also co-financed some of the UNDP projects.
Our partnerships with the donors include:
Partnerships with private sector Our aim is to help build the emerging markets where businesses can grow and prosper without compromising corporate social responsibility and environmental sustainability. We have recently geared up our activities in this sector by establishing two specialized initiatives, The Global Compact and the Growing Sustainable Business initiative.
Global Compact was launched in Zambia in 2003. It is an international initiative bringing companies together with UN agencies, labour and civil society to support ten principles in the areas of human rights, working conditions, the environment, and anti-corruption.
Partnerships with the academia Our partnerships with the academia include Partnerships with UN agencies and international financing institutions
