The Electoral Commission of Zambia in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme held a media training workshop for broadcast and print media on the responsibility of the media to report elections in a balanced, fair and accurate manner. The guest of honour, Director of the Electoral Commission of Zambia, Mr. Dan Kalale opened the five –day workshop entitled “Zambia: Media Training for Journalists on Ethical Elections Reporting” attended by 20 journalists in Palmwood Lodge on Monday 19 July 2010 in Lusaka.

The following article written by Kapala Chisunka was published in the Daily Mail newspaper on Tuesday 13 July 2010, following the launch of Millennium Development Goals localisation project implemented in Petauke, Eastern Province. The Ministry of Community Development and Social Services -initiative will be put into practise in cooperation with United Nations Development Programme and a consortium of Non-Governmental Organisations. By the end of the project, it is envisioned that 16,000 households, about 34 percent of the total population of Petauke will have benefited.

Road Map to Future Elections: Continuous Voter Registration Kicks Off PDF  | Print |

The Electoral Commission of Zambia is aiming to register an additional 2.5 million voters for the 2011 Presidential, Parliamentary and Local Government Elections. The Mobile Continuous Voter Registration Exercise already underway provides an opportunity for Zambians countrywide to register to vote.
